Artists on a beach
Nov. 16th, 2022 01:22 pmThe two grand rescuers of my life (apart from Lurve of course!) are Absurdity and Groundedness. Today I started with the latter; when things are bad, being in constant pain makes things worse. The ankle is not improving, in fact it is much worse, and so to BUPA, through which I had to download an app, send a passport photo across and have an appointment with a GP to get my referral note to specialists. The referral note hasn't turned up yet, and I will chase it... But at least the process is moving. I need this thing looked at before something snaps and the rest of my life is ruined by it.
And then there's Absurdity. Now, Nightcafe AI art attempts have been supplying me with plenty of this, but nothing more hilarious than the corresponding FB group, which can be painfully poe-faced, especially when it comes to the competition.
Oh the competition!
NightCafe issues this little daily contest whereby anyone can enter a piece of AI art based on the days theme. Enough votes = lots of free credits with which to create new art. But it comes down to a popular vote, which means that the winners are not necessarily creating great art. Re the last given theme, beaches, loud have been the complaints about entries that are not focused on beaches themselves, but rather objects, people and/or occurrences upon said beaches. Awful people who don't understand are voting for these insufficiently beach-focused offerings regardless, so the moderator of the group plus faithful acolytes have decided to go through the entries and flag up to the organisers any that do not adhere thematically. In this way, bogus pointless unworthy art can be removed and people will vote for proper obedient onbrief art. Apparently this is our duty! These are the rules!
I haven't been particularly helpful, and am never likely to be. When I'm not laughing at these marvellously censorious oberleutnants of Art Being Done Right, I'm laughing at my own attempts, a series called 'Artists on a Beach.'
Here's the FB post. They're best in this collage style. Yes, Vinnie looks a little alarming, but compared to Frida in the sea, and Yoko on a donkey, he's an utter peach.

I need a bigger study so I can pin all this junk to the walls, cos if it makes me smile on a hard days when sorrow is stretching over the horizon, needs must. Oh, and cheers Bob X https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD45-TRYyrs
