Playing with the Off-Worlders
Nov. 28th, 2022 12:23 amMy Heritage was supposed to be such a boon to me; there I was, researching away at genealogical stuff and pow! A link turns up straight away connecting to a great-grandfather of distinctive name. Thinking that two were unlikely I accepted it. Suddenly my tree is linked to one so vast and so full of anomalies that I cannot correct (because I'm not the admin of that tree) I just abandoned the site. Still, now they have a See Yourself Through Time Travel facility that is at once dreadful and hilarious. Celticboot is worrying enough, Vikingboot could well be the reason Men of the North left their homelands in the first place.

Some of these are clearly off-world incarnations; these are not Earth Prime ears.

But some I liked because they echoed an occurrence brought to mind by P's mention of reincarnation. It happened one night when I was woken by a frightened yelp from my partner of the time. He said he had turned in bed to see what seemed like a Native American woman lying next to him, me and yet not me, eyes wide open, smiling at him. He described her as having those thick plaits we see in all the movies.

Being a total rationalist and skeptic, he was thoroughly freaked. I liked the romance of the idea and still do, even if Disgruntled CowBoot tops it as an image to delight. What's the point of all those lives if you never get to wear a white stetson?

I like world hopping, changing shape in the Dreamlands. Time to go do just that. I hope we bump into each other there, and for all the strangeness bound to arise, find ourselves thinking, I know you, I remember you somehow ...
Night night DW.
