A strange day

smokingbootToday is turning into a difficult day.
I have a meeting this evening, and with the best will in the world I hope it gets cancelled. My stomach feels weirdly fluttery-fragile, but it will be OK. The problem is me not the meeting. I am sitting here staring at Duolingo on my phone. 5 minutes for a lesson. I put the phone down again.
We are not quite OK in the house. Our nerves feel jangled, not with each other but with recent events. There was something I was meant to do today and I just haven't done it, can't understand why. Gosh I want this to go away. Tomorrow I start again.
I have joined Bluesky just to cheer myself up. Maybe it will be a scrapbook of videos, reels, photos, visual cues that please/interest me. Right here is different, and though I do add photos, for me DW/LJ remains principally about words and feelings, my online home.
Looking around Bluesky there's a great quiet. I suspect X is better for up to the minute news, but the site is almost unbearable. It's not just a case of Elon Musk himself or right wing and left wing, culture wars, bots and trollsRUs; it's just all the same screaming loonbin-on-fire. Right now, I would still expect current events to emerge faster there than on other social media. But more than 10 minutes on X is actively painful, and I just do not do it.
I do not think I will do much on Bluesky either. But one never knows where interesting things can be found.
